I talked to an old friend the other day

Said my wife was trying to break away

I was trying to hold on, trying not to break the bond

That’s held us together for so long

 

And I said

I don’t know much, about matters of the heart

I’m no knight in shining armor, and I’m scared to play the part

To fight the battle, slay the dragon, take the poison

Anything, before

She’s gone 

And he said

I don’t know what’s happening today

It seems at love’s first tears, every couple turns away

They just don’t want to fight to save the bond

It seems that love for life has disappeared

And gone
